Interviewing an Angular 2x Developer: The Ultimate Checklist
During the recent years, AngularJS has evolved into Angular 2 and later versions, which are collectively referred to as Angular 2x or Angular 2+. If we compare Angular 2 with Angular 1, we can say that it’s a faster, more powerful, and more future-oriented version of AngularJS. Therefore, many employers now prefer Angular 2x developers over AngularJS specialists. If you belong to such employers and are looking for Angular 2x programmers, then you have come to the right place. In this article, we will share some tips on technical skills that are required from a qualified Angular 2x developer.
Angular 2x Programmer Technical Skills Checklist
- In-depth knowledge of Angular 2x best practices and commonly used modules.
- Understanding of the main differences between Angular 2x and AngularJS, including the advantages of Angular 2x as compared to AngularJS.
- Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and TypeScript – a more scalable superset of JavaScript.
- Experience with traditional object-oriented languages, such as Java, Python, or Ruby.
- Knowledge of Typescript/JavaScript fundamentals, such as observables, promises, lambda expressions, scoping, and strong typing.
- Ability to build custom, general-use modules and components that extend the elements and modules of core AngularJS.
- Ability to create self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components.
- Deep understanding of web design patterns and front-end technologies, such as HTML5 and JQuery.
- Knowledge of MVC frameworks, such as Struts/Spring.
- Knowledge of object-oriented and service-oriented design concepts, including the understanding of data transfer objects and related design patterns.
- Fundamentals of multi-thread application programming.
- Good knowledge of relational databases, JPA, JDBC, and Hibernate.
- Experience in building and integration of JSON-based REST APIs.
- Experience in using Chrome Dev Tools.
- Understanding of single-page architectures.
- Knowledge of the building/automation tools, e.g. Gulp, Grunt, and Bower.
- Familiarity with modern MVC (model-view-controller) patterns.
- Experience in developing wireframes, storyboards, and mock-ups.
As for the soft skills, they should be as follows: communication, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and conceptual skills. If your candidate is able to demonstrate almost all of the above, then it’s great news and a big sign that you’ve probably found a perfect match for your project.
