Messaging flows include getting and sending messages, converting incoming emails to messages, sending push and email notifications, creating Jira tickets etc. Messenger infrastructure consists of microservices written on Python and Golang, some services implement REST API with Flask, most of the microservices interact with gRPC protocol and actively use message brokers.
Responsibilities & achievements
1. Participating in system design discussions, suggesting new approaches. 2. Writing unit tests on Python and Golang, performing end-to-end and regression testing, keeping the app documentation in the actual state. 3. Writing complex SQL queries. 4. Database optimization. 5. Reducing technical debt, migrating microservices from Apache. 6. Thrift to gRPC, deprecating feature flags system 7. Deploying services to Apache Aurora and Kubernetes clusters. 8. A web service for companies to store and analyse their sustainability data. Infrastructure was completely built on AWS, service included an admin panel and a web application for users. From the backend side both apps have an API fully built with a serverless approach, both No-SQL and SQL databases were used.
