RoR applications supporting various B2B tools mainly focused on price comparisons for products of customers. The whole ecosystem includes scraping the competitors' e-shops, pairing competitors' offers with the clients’ products, and creating regular reports (dashboards) via various outputs (Excel, CSV, API, MS PowerBI). As the senior engineer, my main goal was to develop further existing applications, bring new ideas, and implement them. That includes the whole project lifecycle, making investigations into technical topics, defining stories, and subsequently slicing them to the tickets. Other responsibilities in the team were to help and review other colleagues' work or assist the PM on the call with customers.

Responsibilities & achievements

RoR backend application with UI / API - reward application / Cafeteria for Deutsche Telekom employees. The main goal of the backend application was the processing of the shopping transactions, ranking system of the users based on various performance measurements, monthly/fiscal year reporting, scheduled jobs (i.e. points expiration, automatic emails), API for the client applications (authentication/authorization - SSO Auth, notifications, reporting of the users’ data - rankings, accounting, etc.). We took over the project from the previous developers' team and refactored the codebase. Now we are assisting in defining and implementing new features, fixing bugs, supporting PMs with knowledge about the system, helping PMs to define tickets, hot fixing live issues on the production (made by the customer), release engineering, and assisting IT OPS with infra maintenance.

Mostly UI development, refactoring, writing rspec/cucumber tests, i18n, bug fixing, code reviews, packaging Rubygems to RPMs for Fedora.
