I have been working as a web developer for about 10 years. And about 6 years of commercial use of Ruby and Javascript. I think that my job is comparable to the job of a car engineer. When you produce a detail, or a tool, which will be used inside a car, and you need to design, develop, and test this detail to make it reliable, secure, convenient, and beautiful. And sometimes it’s like surgery when you fix bugs on legacy projects. My most complex project is an application that helps to search and communicate with influencers on Instagram. I was a team lead of 7 members. I built scalable, fault-tolerant scrapers on Node.js. It worked on queues, had great logs system, and many tricks to avoid limits from Instagram. The main application was on Ruby on Rails and React. React included redux and material UI. On backend the search worked on ElasticSearch and it was a challengeable part to create a relevant search on all of 15 million profiles in our database.
